Charles aka Thoughtwrong’s post, Plurk to Learn, describes the main reason why I remain engaged with Plurk:

Each time I get on Plurk, I gain something useful from participating in a topic started by a user whose timeline I am following, or from reading responses to a topic I started.

(”Plurk to Learn” is my Plurk profile title; thanks, Charles for the mention!)

In Charles’ case, his ROI (return on investment), becomes tangible considering the advice and suggestions he gained from responses to the plurks he started for a job interview. Within a relatively short time, he received tips and suggestions that has helped him gain insight about his interviewers. This type of insight is important to any job seeker.

Could Charles have gotten the same information elsewhere? Of course. He could have read books, worked with career counselors or coaches, researched on the ‘net, and gotten similar information.

The difference is that he didn’t have to spend as much time as he would need. Charles has a young family and time is a precious commodity. He was also able to get tips from a diverse crowd and therefore, the benefit of diverse experience.

Want to see a Plurk to Learn in action? How about tackling a big existential question posed by yours truly?

“Do you believe that each of us has ‘a’ (as in ‘one’) life purpose?”

    Hop on in.

I love what you got going here JaneChin. The stuff you do with plurk and the people therein is absolutely amazing and that is why the title of your timeline was the inspiration for this post. We really are here to learn, listen, and share our knowledge with others. I am very glad to have you as part of my community.

Thank you ThoughtWrong! I really believe in “power plurking”. It’s great to engage in “small talk” but microblog tools like Plurk is going behind small talk to deliver real results for its users. Keep up the Pleeping :)
