Is Plurk the MySpace of Microblogging? Yes…

…..if you plurk like a MySpace user.
So this mashable post by Wayne Sutton has got me scratching my head and wondering if I’m getting Punk’d.
Seriously?
I commented thus:
I agree with my colleagues Dave, Connie, Amber, Deb and others with the superficial assessment of Plurk solely based on ability to customize appearance and judgment of content depth based on absolutely no data to support these claims.
I, like Connie, have unfollowed people (sorry, you were one of the first I unfollowed) because of the sheer number of ‘lifestreaming’ that they plurk, because these have not contributed much value to the use of my time on a platform that has been more topic centered than user-centered.
Perhaps that’s the rub – the fact that unless what you as a user contribute is valuable, after a while the vacuousness becomes a waste of valuable time-line real estate.
Wayne Sutton was my first “Plurkaholic” when I launched this website, as he was nominated by other people. Needless to say, I’m disappointed.
Or, this is a great example of a huge misunderstanding and it all depends on how you define the word, “MySpace”. Hey, I’m trying to be optimistic here.
