Twitter is like Cheers. Plurk is like Seinfeld.
@DebinDenver first shared an article asking whether Plurk has outgrown its novelty status and is becoming a ghost town:

The “hype” may have slowed, but I suspect people may just be allocating their social media time. That said, I’m on Twitter more now, because I’ve had more followers who ping me comments.
Also because people like Steve Woodruff (@swoodruff) and Walter Reade (@WalterReade) are still on twitter!
@Teeg jumped in with her 2c saying that Twitter isn’t going to be her main conversation platform. This led me to plurk the following:
hm… you know what the difference feels like Teeg and DebinDenver? Twitter is like an episode of Cheers, where you’re at the bar and having mostly one-liner exchanges. Plurk is like a Seinfeld episode.
Teeg is right, the exchanges I’ve had doesn’t feel as much like a conversation more like ping backs and often tops at 3 or 4 exchanges. On Plurk, I have had “chats” with the same person for extended length of time on the same subject area. I’ve made friends on plurk more readily than on twitter, most of whom are still acquaintances (unless I already knew them in real life, and unless they were Walter Reade).
Here’s the plurk page if you want to jump in! http://www.plurk.com/p/6toq1
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go catch up with @ethnicomm on the latest episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

this is a new one; army is concerned about microblogs (specifically twitter bc of its popularity) being used as a terrorist tool:

Elizabeth Able (ablereach) asks, “if Twitter (or Plurk) had a premium service that let you choose your own ads for your profile page, would you go for it?” http://www.plurk.com/p/5inql My answer: Nope - I don’t see much value add even if I earn residuals.
