Hmm….tough question….NOT! I am a Plurkaholic because I LOVE PLURK! There is just so much going on, and never enough time to keep up with it all. I love all the people I have met, the connections I have made, and the wonderful conversations I have shared while here. I cannot think of anyplace else I would rather be. As a matter of fact, Plurk is what caused me to purchase the PDA unlimited internet plan on my mobile phone so “I can. haz Plurk” wherever I go.
How did you come up with the mypleeps.com concepts?Well, what it is and what it will be are two different things. As of now mypleeps.com is a blog, a podcast (Meet the Pleeps) and helpful users guide to Plurk. That, however, is not the vision (concept) I hope to achieve.
When I first decided to start this site I asked myself, “What do you really liked about Plurk?” The answer was simple enough… The Community! Here-in lies the true vision of mypleeps.com, the one that is busting at the seams. I want to see this site blossom into a total community input site all about Plurk. I want to see Plurk videos, Plurk picture, Plurk crafts, ALL THINGS PLURK!
I love Plurk and I know that there are so many Pleeps out there, who are so creative, that all Plurk would benefit from this. This however is turning out to be a slow process as we work on re-designing and changing platforms of the site. Wordpress just isn’t the best for community interaction and input.
When did you first come across the term Pleep? The term Pleeps was first introduced to me by Germaine, and that was the revelation to get me started on building the site. Then when I was thinking of logos I had a nifty idea to tie the Pleeps in with the headless Plurk dog. So I did a little sketch on an envelope and sent it to my friend ZenElements and he turned it into a logo for me.
When you’re not Plurking what do you do? How do you even juggle all this AND still Plurk up 71+ karma points?!
When I am not Plurking…..What is this “Not Plurking” you speak of? (g_LOL)
So, I have been Plurking since June 4th, 2008. As my Pleeps know I happen to have two jobs (one as a custodian at a middle school and the other selling auto parts) that suck a lot of my time, but me and the wife have bills to pay. Priorities first you know. When I am at home I definitely make time for my family as I have stated in this post. My son means the world to me.
As far as the 71 Karma, I believe that Plurk said it best in one of their karma tips “Having fun on Plurk will increase karma”. That is all there is to it really. I don’t necessarily try for Karma, sure I post and comment a lot, but In the end I would take great conversation over a number any day. Even if it did mean I lose the dancing banana emote.
Are there any memorable Plurk conversations that you want to share?
Well, memorable conversations are a plenty on Plurk, and I hate to leave anyone out by sharing one or two specific threads, but check this out started by my good friend chasyaldora whom made a “Karma spam” post for me to have fun with when I first started Plurking. Good times on that thread.
Any tips for newcomers to the Plurk way of life?
Well, I have to say don’t get too overwhelmed your first time here. Plurk is a great community and takes a little getting used to, but you will make friends in no time. Once you have the friends you may wish to view our website (mypleeps.com) for some getting started guides, tips & tricks, and other helpful posts to guide you on your journey. And finally if you decide it’s not for you, be sure and make a post to say you are quitting Plurk, and then stick around for 5 minutes afterwards…..chances are….You will never leave!
I am thoughtwrong, and you’ve just been Pleeped!
